The dam and the migration barrier at Okome Mill in Stock\u00e5n, a tributary of H\u00f6gvads\u00e5n, is about to disappear. The first step of the project is to lower the dam, which is currently underway. The dam will then be dismantled so that fish can freely migrate upstreams. <\/strong><\/p>\n

There is a lot going on in Improve Aquatic LIFE right now! Both the lowering of the G\u00f6rarp dam in River R\u00e5\u00e5n and the Okome mill in Stocka\u00e5n are currently in full swing. The aim of the project at Okome Mill is to create free migration routes for salmon and other fish species in the Stock\u00e5n river, which will benefit the fish populations as well as overall biodiversity of the area. <\/span><\/p>\n

Fine spawning grounds for salmon and other species that have previously been impounded have already begun to emerge<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The dismantling of the dam also enables the red-listed freshwater pearl mussel to establish itself upstream of the mill, as its larvae depend on salmonids for their reproduction.
